Room Sculpture
Transparency and Opaqueness. A paper drum floats vertically in the room. A compact creation, that is at the same time so transparent and light as if it would fall apart with the slightest breath of wind. A cylinder formed of uncountable paper strips. Each one held by fine wires, which are woven into a thick rope and spliced into a steel cable hanging from the ceiling. This forms the fine axis on which the drum turns. Air moves the layers of paper. Light bathes them in many shades of white.

Room Sculpture
Lightfooted through the air. A horizontal sculpture made of three s-shaped curved basic forms suspended freely from the ceiling. Depending on the room situation the installation height, and thus the height of the sculpture, can be varied. On two parallel layers of greenish transparent acrylic, moveable paper strips are mounted vertically on wires. The paper flags catch every thermal change making the whole sculpture vibrate. Each part moves independently, turning unnoticeably on its own axis, guided by an invisible choreography.

Light Vibration. Two acrylic strips combine to form a high, narrow lens. The vertically oriented form is crisscrossed with horizontal, wavy wires, on which single blade like paper strips vibrate. The paper strips are run through with hair fine wires, which protrude sideways out of the paper and like feelers, register the smallest movement in the room to make the sculpture and the surrounding room vibrate delicately.

Comet. A curtain of light floats vertically in the room. A cloak of white feathers, that alone by its size cannot be ignored. Innumerable paper strips held by fine stainless steel wires bent down by the weight of the paper. Light directed from above falls golden through the layers of paper. The delicate wires reflect the light. More levels open from the side. The paper strips appear more compact. From them protrudes a tangle of sparkling wires, leading in short parallel lines through the first acrylic sheet. Mounted to the ceiling, the sculpture floats just over the floor, fascinating by its complexity and its presence in the room.

Lightness and calm

Room Sculptures. Their feather light forms fascinate. One wants to touch them. To understand their magic. Only after looking more closely does one really see them. A sculpture is made up of in some cases hundreds of paper strips, which appear at first to be identical. Each one of these paper strips is handmade, of a different thickness, raw at the edges, individual. Here, white is not just white. The colour changes, depending on the viewing angle, in the play of light and shadow or as the light is filtered through.

The materials are simple: paper, stainless steel wire and acrylic. Their opposite natures work to unify them. Gravity appears to be overcome, the paper floats. The individual leaves, attached with fine stainless steel wire, vibrate in the thermal drafts of air and warmth. The sculptures move in response to the viewer, whose gestures and footsteps set the air in motion. They seem to awaken to life. And with them, the room.
